The second-hand marketplace Members Express Anger Regarding Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
